CARACAS (Reuters) – Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido said on Sunday President Nicolas Maduro’s government is preparing to dissolve the opposition-run legislature and call new legislative elections, potentially escalating Venezuela’s political crisis.

Guaido, who is also head of congress, said the decision would be made on Monday by the all-powerful Constituent Assembly – a parallel legislature controlled by the ruling Socialist Party – and could involve more arrests of legislators.

The article goes on to state the following:

Such a move would likely fuel criticism of Maduro in the international community and halt Norway-brokered talks between the government and Guaido allies meant to reach a negotiated solution to Venezuela’s political stalemate.

Such a move would likely fuel criticism of Maduro in the international community and halt Norway-brokered talks between the government and Guaido allies meant to reach a negotiated solution to Venezuela’s political stalemate.

“Tomorrow they intend to dissolve parliament, illegally convene parliamentary elections or even begin mass persecution of legislators,” Guaido said in a video posted on Twitter.

Translation of Guaido’s Twitter post below: “Venezuela: every advance of this fight we have built together. Therefore, I ask you to join me tonight to give you an important announcement through my social networks. If the regime blocks the internet, stay tuned and spread our message. We overcome censorship!”

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio tweeted in response to the news: “Today #MaduroRegime may try to call early National Assembly “elections”. I hope global media & @EU_Commission nations realize the regime controls all media in #Venezuela, has jailed, exiled & murdered its opponents, the ballot isn’t secret & regime counts the votes.”

    Hey there Bernie Sanders

You need to get your communist stupid a$$hole on the next flight straight to your “Communist Paradise” in order to rescue your Narco-Communist Comrade such as Nicolas Maduro, who forced 3.4 million Venezuelans to leave their own Country because of your Socialist Stupid Policies, also known in today’s society as the “equal sharing of misery.”
