Actress/activist Alyssa Milano said she was “cautiously optimistic” after her sitdown with Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Tex., on Tuesday to discuss gun violence.

Milano met Cruz in his D.C. office along with Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter was killed in the 2018 Parkland shooting, and gun control activist Ben Jackson and live-streamed the conversation on Facebook, which lasted over an hour.

The article goes on to state the following:

Appearing on CNN, the “Charmed” star admitted that she didn’t think the meeting would happen after she and Cruz traded barbs on social media last week.

“I felt like this meeting was important, obviously, to reach across the aisle, to have a civil discussion on this matter, to look at him in the eye and say you’re on the wrong side of this,” Milano explained.

Milano tweeted after the meeting, “I just left. He was gracious. I’m unsure if it changes anything. But appreciative for the opportunity to bridge the divide with civil, meaningful, discussion. Link to entire meeting below.”

Cruz responded, “Thank you for coming & having a positive, civil & substantive conversation. I hope it helps bridge some of the angry divides in our Nation and that Congress can come together to stop violent gun crime while protecting the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens.”

Cruz then posted the following statement on Twitter:

I am always grateful for the opportunity to engage in positive, civil discussion on the substantive issues of the day – especially with those with whom I disagree. Today’s meeting was productive and respectful, and I appreciate Alyssa and Fred’s willingness to come here with an open mind. I believe more conversations like this will go a long way in helping unite and heal our divided country.

We all agree we have far too many of these mass shootings, and they need to stop. It is long past time for everyone to put away the partisan talking points so we can work together to solve this problem. We need to act.

In Congress, we need to focus on what works. I have offered solutions, including Grassley-Cruz, which would keep guns out of the hands of felons and dangerous individuals and stop mass shootings. We could pass these reforms right now and make our country safer. I will continue to work with my colleagues in Congress to do just that.

Sen. Cruz shared a video on his Facebook page of the meeting:

Milano posted the following statement on Instagram Wednesday morning:

Too many Americans are dying. There is a gun violence epidemic in America that 90% of us want fixed. Republicans and Democrats alike. I hope @sentedcruz will seize this moment and urge his party’s leadership to advance the life-saving gun violence prevention bills pending in the Senate to a full debate and vote. We can’t solve gun violence by talking only with people who agree with us. I’m grateful for the opportunity to speak to Senator Cruz, and I hope our discussion inspires Americans across the political spectrum to reach across the partisan divides in our nation. 🖤

I am glad she set a president for other young men and women to question things before making a definitive decision on key issues facing our nation based on MSM. I believe this is a good stepping stone to bridging the gap of ignorance.

So a liberal fruit cake with no power except her mouth came forward to say what she had said hundreds of times before. Nothing accomplished except except making
her feel important and making her name/ face more valuable on scene. Self advertising like Jessie Smollet without the police charges. Wow…. she really helped the nation didn’t she.
