NEW JERSEY – A 12-year-old Fair Lawn boy was fatally struck by a car from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, authorities said Sunday.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was walking with his brother and two of their friends on Route 208 south near Fair Lawn Avenue around 9 p.m. Sunday when he was hit, said police Sgt. Brian Metzler. The boy’s name was not released.

The officer driving the car, identified as Michael Sansevere, was taken to a local hospital.
