A University of Wisconsin-Madison student was charged with murdering his mother on Tuesday after he allegedly beat her to death with a baseball bat while home on Spring Break.

Thomas J. Summerwill, 21, was charged with two felony counts of second-degree murder after prosecutors say he beat his mother, 53-year-old Mary Summerwill, to death last month.

The article goes on to state the following:

Summerwill, a junior at UW-Madison, was at home on March 24 when he believed there was “an intruder in his bedroom,” the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office said in a press release.

Prosecutors said Summerwill, not realizing it was his mother, grabbed a bat and “struck the person multiple times in the head.”

Why don’t I believe his story? I think I’m getting cynical about the violence against authority figures like parents, grandparents and law enforcement. We have 2 generations of people who’ve never been told no, have never been taught responsibility or respect and they feel slighted over small things and since they’ve been told everything is someone else’s fault they react violently with the belief they are not wrong because of how they’ve been raised and brainwashed. By violent I don’t mean just the physical but the verbal, emotional and mental violence that is perpetrated.

My teenage granddaughter tried to talk to me the way she did to her friends and got a surprise when I put her in her place, she was expecting me to take it just like the parents of her friends would take it and then give into the kid!
