As the majestic Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France is engulfed in a massive fire, U.S. First Lady Melania Trump posted her sadness and condolences in a Twitter statement.

According to news reports, thousands of Paris residents have turned out to watch the devastating destruction of the iconic, centuries-old cathedral.

No injuries have been reported, but the spire of the cathedral has collapsed into the fire.

Mrs. Trump tweeted: “My heart breaks for the people of Paris after seeing the fire at Notre Dame Cathedral. Praying for everyone’s safety.”

President Trump also tweeted his condolences, writing, “So horrible to watch the massive fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Perhaps flying water tankers could be used to put it out. Must act quickly!”
