Today is June 12, and these are the stories I am watching…

1. Left leaning (as in… almost falling from leaning so far) website Axios reiterated what the far left Washington Post is now claiming, and that is that migrants are fleeing Central America because. (drumroll)…. coffee prices.  Yup! Can’t make this stuff up.   Here you go….

Coffee is trading below $1 a pound, less than half the value it fetched five years ago, because of a flood of beans from leading producer Brazil and its weakening real currency, Axios Markets editor Dion Rabouin writes.  In a market twist, the falling prices of coffee beans could lead to higher coffee prices for Western consumers. The WashPost points out that coffee’s downturn is adding to the historic flow of migrants, struggling on farms in Central America, to the U.S.

DML: Gee, I thought it was all that crazy violence that was sending them here?  Of well, when the narrative doesn’t stick, try coffee.

2. Mexico deal. Departing the White House yesterday for Iowa, President Trump was asked about unannounced parts of his agreement with Mexico that held off tariffs. Trump toyed with the journalists by displaying a folded paper and saying: “That’s the agreement that everybody says I don’t have. … This is one page of a very long and very good agreement for both Mexico and the United States.” The Washington Post was able to reconstruct three paragraphs from two photos of the page that Trump brandished, and found little new.

DML: I say we just tariff the heck out of Mexico and be done with this mystery deal.  DML2024 sounding better?

3-Google cuts lobbyists amid government scrutiny. The tech giant has fired several of its largest lobbying firms as part of a major overhaul of its global government affairs and policy operations, slashing external consultants and reallocating internal resources.

DML: According to the book of Common Sense, the word “Google” translates to “liberal slime.”

4-House move aims to pressure Trump officials over subpoenas. The Democratic-led House authorized Congress to go to court to enforce subpoenas of current and former Trump administration officials over the Mueller probe, a gambit designed to keep pressure on the White House without opening a full-blown impeachment inquiry.

DML: ZZzzzzzZzzzzzZzzzzzz (cough) Zzzzzzzzz…..

5-Sanders to make his case for Democratic socialism
Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.,  is expected to make a speech on Wednesday touting his idea of Democratic socialism, a system promising Medicare-for-all, free public college and a $15-per-hour minimum wage, all of which have caused Republicans to dismiss him as too far to the left. Sanders is expected to defend these ideals as the “unfinished business” necessary to restore America to Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal era if he’s elected president in 2020. His campaign platform will largely hinge on the promise to address the growing wealth inequality and guarantee economic rights that he feels all American’s are entitled to.

DML: I wonder why Bernie won’t offer his book for free?  Hmmmm.

6- We come back to Axios, who reports: Trump’s campaign in crisis…! Axios Quote: “Everywhere he looks, President Trump can see flashing warnings that his re-election is in serious peril, a week ahead of his official campaign launch next Tuesday in Orlando.”   The state…

Trump should be crushing it. Unemployment is at a near-historic low. The economy is growing. Peace and prosperity abound. But his numbers are sagging. The N.Y. Times reported“After being briefed on a devastating 17-state poll conducted by his campaign pollster, Tony Fabrizio, Mr. Trump told aides to deny that his internal polling showed him trailing Mr. Biden in many of the states he needs to win. … Trump instructed aides to say publicly that other data showed him doing well.” National Journal’s Josh Kraushaar writes (subscription) that Trump is “in the weakest political shape of any sitting president since George H.W Bush”.

DML: If this is indeed true, we as a group can overcome the odds by spreading the message of truth far and wide.  It takes a lot of work, so if you are part of TeamDML.com, get ready to work together nonstop.  We are 2,000 strong and adding new people each day.  If you are NOT TeamDML, then I urge you to join our team at TeamDML.com  Give it a try, you’ll love it.
